We cordially invite you to submit your abstract/paper to 1st Biennial Conference on Sharia and Social Studies which will be held at Pangeran Beach Hotel, Padang, West Sumatera on August 23rd to 25th 2017. This wonderful conference is organized by Fakultas Syariah UIN Imam Bonjol Padang.

Hashim Kamali, B.A., L.LM., Ph.D. (International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies, Malaysia), Prof. Heddy Shri-Ahimsa Putra, M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D. (Universitas Gadjah Mada Yogyakarta, Indonesia), Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Wira Dr. Haji Jamil bin Haji Osman (International Institute for Advanced Islamic Thought for Southeast Asia), Prof. Dr. Arskal Salim, G.P., M.Ag. (Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarya, Indonesia), Dr. Aly Abdel Moneim, M.A. (Maqasid Institute London, United Kingdom), and Dr. Muchlis Bahar, Lc,. M.Ag. Introduction

Sharia as known as Islamic law was a main idea which debatable in the Muslim community, nor is currently a study trends in the Western world. The responses often come to the surface is a defensive-apologetic attitude and actions are counter-productive. As a result, the majority of Muslims imprisoned in appalling conditions. Some have been doing ijtihad, but not as much as that carried out by other nations and peoples (Abdullah on Auda 2015). Experts Sharia often seems not ready to deliver the feel and the origin of the fundamental discourse of Islamic studies to the broader audience. At the same time, the West appears a viewpoint xenophobic who want to put the sharia as a cross-historical notion of fossilized and forever at odds with the concepts of gender equality, democracy, human rights and various other things central western consciousness (Safi in Kamali 2008).
